Excellent news for businesses and tax-exempt entities who act now to invest in adding solar energy onto their property: new federal tax guidelines enable you to further reduce the cost of solar by 10% (up to a total of 50%).
The 30% Investment Tax Credit is available for solar arrays installed by the end of 2027. But wait, there is more. Utilizing the updated IRS information, the newly drawn Energy Communities map shows that for most of Southeast PA, if your solar system is placed in service by the end of May 2027, an additional 10% tax credit can further bring down a project’s overall installation cost. At the same time, many of our participating installers are obtaining equipment that complies with federal domestic content rules, bringing the total federal tax credit up to 50% of the total project cost. This is an unprecedented opportunity and makes the current economics of solar extremely attractive.
Any solar project that goes into service between June 2026 and May 2027, located within this map, will qualify for at least a 40% tax credit or direct payment (if tax exempt) from the IRS.
